2016 OneTonZin Zinfandel
This is the third Zinfandel produced by winemaker Kathleen Inman from the venerable Papera Ranch. Located across the road from our Olivet Grange Vineyard, the historic Papera Ranch has 13.7 acres of old-vine Zinfandel and field blend vines. Charley Papera first planted the vineyard in 1934, a year after prohibition ended. Many of the existing Zinfandel vines are from this initial planting. Stuart Coulson saved the old vines from Pinot Noir replanting fever, and tends to them to this day. Due to their deep roots, the vines are primarily dry farmed, producing intense flavors. Just one ton of this lovely fruit was purchased to craft a bright and food-friendly Zinfandel for Pinot Noir drinkers.
