Inman Family Review
The Colorado Wine News, Volume 15, No. 2, April - June 2005
Kathleen Inman continues to make very desirable Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. It disappears fairly quickly, mostly directly from the winery. You can contact Inman at: Inman Family Wines, P.O. Box 1323, Healdsburg, CA 95448, tel. 707.395.0689, www.inmanfamilywines.com , kathleen@inmanfamilywines.com
Thirty percent of the 2003 Pinot Gris, Olivet Grange and Saralee’s Vineyards, RussianRiverValley, $24, 225 cases, was fermented and underwent malolactic fermentation in neutral French oak, the balance was done in stainless steel and did not undergo malolactic. All the wine was aged in neutral French oak before blending. Soft, sweet aromas of grapefruit, apple, and sweet grass continue as clean flavors with the addition of grapefruit and lemon peel and finish long and medium broad. The wine is well balanced, structured, integrated and has good acidity. It goes nicely with food. Good.
The 2003 Pinot Noir, Olivet Grange Vineyard, Russian River Valley, $40 (cork), $45 (screwcap), 488 cases. Aged in French oak, 35% new, for eleven months, it was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Earth, ripe cherry and black raspberry, and smoke on the nose introduce fresh, bright flavors of the same with the fruit first and laced with great acidity and very fine tannin, it finishes medium-broad and long with very persistent cinnamon and clove at the back. This is a well balanced, integrated, and structured Pinot Noir made to match with food. Excellent. BEST WINE.
